PEI

Today we're in PEI at the Deep Water Inn. No internet access last night means that tonight you get two photo albums. Yesterday we were in Cape Breton (the northern island of Nova Scotia). It's wild and rugged. All of Nova Scotia (that we've seen so far) seems fairly rugged. There's been hardly any farming - it seems that most people must either work in the lumber or the fishing industries. There are also some quarries - Nova Scotia has a lot of rock. People drive differently here. I think I've been passed by other cars less than 5 times. I'm not driving that fast either - just close to the limit - but noone else seems at all interested in the speed limit. Anyway, it is lovely. We stopped at Louisbourg which is a national historic site abandoned a couple hundred years ago but rebuilt stone by stone in the 1960s. In the summer they have people in costume pretending they are back in the 1700s before the English laid siege to it and wiped it out. We stayed in a (very) lovely BnB last night and went and walked along one of the lakesides. Here are some pictures. Today we left Cape Breton and took a ferry across to PEI. I think this is Amy's favorite place so far. The red dirt reminds me of Kijabe - though it's not quite *that* red. Very picturesque here - lots of farming - and it seems like people are a bit better off than in NS. Our room here overlooks the Northumberland Strait (between PEI and NS). Here are some pictures from today.
